About Nathalia Velasco Herrera
Nathalia Velasco Herrera is excited to be teaching creative writing with Amore Learning! A multidisciplinary artist and graduate of NYU Gallatin, she studied multimedia arts, communications, and creative writing with a minor in child and adolescent psychopathology.
Nathalia began her teaching journey as a camp counselor at The Nat in San Diego, where she helped young learners engage with science and creativity by building exhibits and interactive displays. Since then, she has taught writing classes for adults and children in New York, fostering a love of storytelling and self-expression in diverse classroom settings. She aims to help students discover their voices and explore who they are through the transformative power of writing. Inspired by her own experiences with remarkable writing teachers who became lifelong mentors, Nathalia approaches teaching as a collaborative journey. She encourages students to see writing as both a tool for self-expression and a means of understanding the world around them. By fostering curiosity and building meaningful connections, Nathalia creates a space where young minds can feel confident, valued, and free to experiment, helping them grow as writers and as individuals.
In her free time, Nathalia Velasco Herrera enjoys exploring her creativity through acrylic painting, graphic design, and writing. She also has a deep love for books and is often either recommending one or reading one. Dedicated to lifelong learning, Nathalia has been steadily building her French skills, proudly maintaining a streak of over a year on Duolingo.
