About Meg Cunningham

A proud Washington, D.C. native and graduate of Georgetown University, Meg is currently a first grade teacher dedicated to supporting students’ academic growth while nurturing their individual interests and passions. She believes that learning should be joyful, and that each child can unlock that joy through a strong connection with a teacher, tutor, or coach who sees and supports them.

Meg is in her seventh year of teaching and brings a wealth of experience from working with students across grades K–7, including in special education environments and supporting students with IEPs. She is well-versed in a variety of curricula, including Illustrative Mathematics, Wilson, Fundations, and Heggerty, among others. With a deep love for all things reading, writing, and math, Meg is passionate about designing lessons that spark curiosity, build foundational skills, and help all students—regardless of learning profile—develop confidence and joy in their learning.

Meg encourages her students to discover intrinsic motivation by fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the learning process. She offers real-time feedback that helps students identify and correct mistakes, building both their confidence and independence. Meg is especially passionate about hands-on learning experiences and designing projects tailored to her students’ interests, making learning both meaningful and fun.

Meg loves spending time with her students and takes great joy in supporting their individual pursuits. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys trying new exercise classes, playing soccer, taking long walks with her dog, Chestnut, and curling up with a good historical fiction novel.
