TEAM MEMBER

Kavita Sharifan Maharajh-Ali is a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Legal Assistant at the States United Democracy Center, where she supports research and policy initiatives related to democracy, governance, election integrity, and the rule of law. 

She brings experience in legal research, policy analysis, open-source research, and cybersecurity, along with a strong passion for education and mentorship. In addition to her professional work, she has worked with students through AmeriCorps, served as a Program Leader at American University, and provided individualized tutoring and enrichment support for young learners. Kavita is dedicated to creating a positive, engaging learning environment where children can build confidence, develop curiosity, and reach their full potential. 

Outside of work and academics, she enjoys hot yoga, cycling, cooking, pickleball, reading, and spending time at the beach.
