Does your teen love writing? Join critically acclaimed, multi-published local author Charlene Thomas for a five-week storytelling intensive designed for passionate young writers ready to take their craft to the next level. In this hands-on and highly interactive series, Charlene will guide students through story structure, character development, the editorial process, and the publishing landscape—giving teens the insight and know-how to grow not only as storytellers, but as informed future publishing professionals. Students will receive tangible, actionable feedback on their writing from both their peers and Charlene, helping them understand how the concepts discussed in class translate into stronger, more intentional work—all within an uplifting and encouraging environment. This experience is ideal for teens aged 13+. Enrollment is capped at eight students to ensure personalized guidance and support for every writer. About Charlene: Charlene Thomas is the author of multiple young adult novels published by Penguin Random House and Scholastic Press. Her work has received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and has been featured by Parade Magazine, BuzzFeed, Book Riot, and more. She holds a certificate in teaching creative writing from the University of Cambridge and is currently a finalist for a highly competitive, national writing fellowship. As a teen, she won the National Novel Silver Award from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and will be acting as a judge for the Scholastic Writing Awards during the current cycle. Charlene is passionate about democratizing access to writing education and can often be found mentoring, participating in author talks, and hosting workshops for the community.
