Service Description

You’ve opened the application. You’ve read the essay questions. Now…what exactly are you supposed to say? Before you start drafting, it helps to understand what schools are actually hoping to learn—and which parts of your child’s story are worth telling. In this 60-minute virtual workshop, Amore educational consultant and writing coach Abby Maslin helps parents navigate the crucial first stage of the application essay process: figuring out what to write about. We’ll unpack common application questions, consider what information belongs where, and explore how to choose the strengths, interests, experiences, and challenges that will create a clear, authentic picture of your child. Through guided brainstorming exercises, you’ll begin identifying the specific stories and details that can bring your child to life on the page, and think strategically about how individual responses can work together to create a full and consistent picture of an applicant. Parents of younger applicants will learn how to describe a child whose personality and interests are still emerging, while parents of middle and high school applicants will learn how to help their child generate ideas for their own essays without taking over their voice. No draft required. Come with your application questions and leave with a clearer sense of what you want to say and where to begin. Thursday, October 22nd, 7-8pm All registered families will have access to the video recording for 30 days, even if they can’t attend the live workshop.
