Service Description
Welcome to our Fashion + Art Remix Camp with Betsy Garcete! With Betsy, campers will explore how color, shape, pattern, and texture can transform an everyday garment. Each camper will look at art and fashion examples, create inspiration sheets, sketch designs, and experiment with a fabric arrangement before applying it to a cotton T-shirt (using tested no-sew techniques!) Designs can be abstract, geometric, or personal, we can't wait to see what your campers create! Betsy Garcete has taught art to K–12 students at Sacred Heart School in Washington, D.C., and fashion classes at Capitol Hill Arts Center. She currently teaches design thinking, brand management, and creative entrepreneurship at the college level. Beyond the classroom, Betsy is the founder of ZOPHIA, a custom womenswear brand inspired by her family's tradition of dressmaking in Peru. Her work brings together a love of fashion, craftsmanship, and creative problem-solving. Betsy brings that experience into a playful, hands-on setting where children can experiment with color, explore fabrics, and turn their ideas into something they can actually wear. As a mother of two boys, she knows that sometimes the best creative moments begin with a little mess and a lot of imagination. Perfect for ages 3–12, Amore's No School Day camps transform school holidays, professional development days, and other school closures into opportunities for creativity, learning, and memorable experiences.
