Service Description

In this exciting new class, students will step into the role of young engineers as they design and build structures, machines, and beginner-friendly robotic models. Throughout the spring, they will learn how engineers plan, sketch, test, and improve their ideas through hands-on exploration. Activities will include constructing bridges or towers that can hold weight, creating simple machines like levers and pulleys, collaborating on team-based building challenges, and exploring introductory robotics concepts such as programming movements or sensors. This program will strengthen spatial reasoning, collaboration, and perseverance. As students build, they will learn about balance, force, and stability, while practicing how to break big challenges into smaller, manageable steps. Hands-on learners especially thrive in this environment. Note: We will pick students up at school dismissal at 3:15 and bring them to the classroom. Families do not need to be present at this time. Our class will dismiss on the range at 4:15pm. The cost of this course includes a $35 per student fee charged by DCPS to use classroom space for the semester. It also includes materials (and heaps of fun!).
