Service Description
Writing creatively is the perfect intersection of building essential literacy skills while having fun! Taught by Murch teacher Will Verdeur, students in this exciting course will develop vivid characters, inventive plot lines, and respond to engaging (and often delightfully silly) prompts that spark imagination and confidence. In addition to traditional storytelling, students explore graphic novel writing, learning how to combine dialogue, storyboarding, and visual sequencing to bring their ideas to life. Each writer builds a personal portfolio, culminating in a celebratory Publishing Party where families are invited to honor their child’s creativity and growth. The cost of this course includes a $35 per student fee charged by DCPS to use classroom space for the semester. It also includes materials (and heaps of fun!).
