Service Description

In this course, we invite young artists to explore a wide range of artistic mediums while nurturing their creativity and self-expression. Taught by Murch teacher Shereth Gilson, each class highlights a celebrated artist and their signature style—from the bold colors of Wassily Kandinsky, to the playful dots of Yayoi Kusama, the expressive lines of Keith Haring, and the imaginative forms of Joan Miró. Students will experiment with different materials and techniques inspired by these artists, while learning to express their own unique artistic voices. Collaborative activities will help build confidence, and each child will have the opportunity to showcase their creations during our in-class showcase. The cost of this course includes a $35 per student fee charged by DCPS to use classroom space for the semester. It also includes materials (and heaps of fun!).
