About Diya Jain
Diya Jain is a sophomore college student who is passionate about inspiring a love of learning and a sense of curiosity in youth through education and mentorship.
She is currently studying at American University pursuing a joint major in International Relations and Economics. In her professional experience in education, she has tutored kids grades 4-9 in her community in English Language Arts, focusing on reading comprehension skills, grammar, and writing composition. She created tailored curricula based on the unique needs of each of her students, working in collaboration with parents to establish goals and focuses. These ranged from helping prepare students for standardized tests, assisting with homework or class assignments that the student struggled with, and even guiding young minds hoping to pursue a budding interest in creative writing.
Diya has also taught in more informal settings, having worked as a camp counselor for her high school's speech and debate summer camp. She worked remotely for two years teaching English to students in under-resourced villages in Jharkhand, India. Her professional experience in education has definitely fostered in her a love of teaching and an eagerness to see our youth unlock their love for learning.
She believes that education is a tool of empowerment and a key to endless doors of opportunity, enabling children to make their own decisions, find dreams to pursue, and gain the skills necessary to reach them.
In her free time, Diya enjoys going on walks in nature, hanging out with her friends and loved ones, and curling up with a good book. She has a passion for travel and exploration, and hopes to continue to visit new countries and learn about different cultures and lifestyles.
